Fellow San Franciscans Please HELP
I want to do something to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina besides just making a simple contribution. Although my friends made it to the safe harbor of their family in Los Angeles, thousands of others still need our help. Here is what I am asking:
soap, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs and new, unused underpants in various sizes and ditto for socks. A friend who just left Houston has said that this what the people need. The donated items will be sent to a distribution center in Houston.
My boss has said that for now, we can collect these items at our office. As of now, people can bring donations from 9 am – 6 pm starting this Tuesday, September 6.
If you would like to donate time or money for boxes and postage and learn where to bring items, please click here. Questions? Please email SFtoHoustonaid at yahoo dot com.
PLEASE FORWARD THIS POST TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW IN SF.
I admire the kind folks over at Feministe! Also see Last Left Turn Before Hooterville.
