LGBTs Love Dogs, Too

A Swedish court imposed a fine on a petshop owner who refused to sell a dog to a woman once she discovered that the woman is a lesbian. WTF?

It is great to see this discrimination handled in a Court of Law. It sends that the signal that we are all equal. Yes, we are all equal. Join the campaign for Human Rights Campaign.

Holy Liberal Media!

The liberal media strikes again. ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX have all declined to run an ad for the United Church of Christ. They have refused because they claim not to run advocacy ads -- huh? What would you call the ads about pollution?

The ads feature Gay couples (oh, no!), ethnic minorites (scary) and unwed mothers being cast aside by an unspecified Church. How shocking and untrue true!

"They are saying, 'You can entertain on 'Will & Grace' and 'Queer Eye for the Straight Guy,' but when it comes to showing you as whole people with the church, that is going to far," Buford said. Says the spokesman for the Church and he may be right.

What's the moral of the story? 1. God loves all people and 2. the liberal media is only as liberal as those who sensor what gets on television.

Card Left on the Table

Andrew Card "resigned" today from being the White House Chief of Staff. He told Shrub that he thought that he is a lying sack of crap good man. What was that? In other words, please don't have me killed and dumped in the River?

Apparently, he is the sacrificial lamb and now magically, Dumb Dumb's poll numbers will rise. Or at least that is the hope. The new guy, Joshua Bolten, comes from the Budget Office via Wall Street. Well, we can all see what a great job he has done with the budget, eh?

See the Heretik's discarded, CommonSenseDesk keeps 'em linked and take a sip of Pam's brew, too.

Former CA State Senator Al Alquist Passes

The former state senator and husband of Sen. Elaine Alquist died at 4am this morning. According to Elaine Alquist's office:

The 34-year veteran of the California Legislature was born on August 2, 1908 in Memphis, TN. Prior to serving four years in the California Assembly beginning in 1962, and the Senate for 30 years until 1996, Senator Alquist had a 40-year career with the railroads.

As he took his last breath on his 13th wedding anniversary with his wife Senator Elaine Alquist (D-San Jose) by his side, his last words, said in a strong voice, were “love you.”

You're asking yourself, why the post? Well, I volunteered in his office when I was in high school and then worked for his wife when I worked in politics up in Sacramento. The late Senator Alquist did more for California State Parks than anyone else, and he also championed seismic safety laws.

Fraud on Barroid

I have been mulling this over for several days. It seems that in light of the new Barroid revelations, I think that we am owed something.

After all, Barroid, the San Francisco Giants and Major League Baseball have all profited from my thousands up thousands of dollars that I have given them over the years. I gave that money good faith because I was led to believe that I was seeing something spectacular and authentic. So, why can't I sue the three of these liars for fraud?  We, the fans, have been defrauded of our time, money and energy.

Anyone interested in starting a class-action lawsuit?

Career Wisdom Shared

During the past week, we have been interviewing prospective interns. Here are a few tips from me to those of you seeking jobs:

1. Turn OFF your cell phone interview.

2. Be careful about what you have posted on MySpace, i.e. don't list your current job as professional bad-ass. You will also be Googled.

3. Don't tell me that you have worked on X, when you are clearly lying -- I know the difference -- that is why I am interviewing you.

Checking Out

You sit next him! No, you sit next to him. I don't want his cooties!

Yes, these comments are about the CMO (Chief Moron Officer aka Dumb Dumb aka Preznit). It seems that his fellow Republicans don't want to be seen with him in public (finally, they make a smart move). However, they are more than willing to take the money that he manages to bring into their fundraisers.

That said, Republican candidates don't want to be forced off message by such a visit and "have to spend the next two or three days talking about the president's policies ... or what happened yesterday in Ramadi (Iraq)," Galen said.

It has resulted in some fancy GOP footwork as candidates in tight races step away from Bush and Cheney on divisive issues but dance toward them when the subject is money.

Sadly, the almighty dollar is still king. Let's hit them in their wallets! Not to mention what their party is doing to women.

Barroid

As if he isn't disliked enough, Barroid aka Barry Bonds is suing the Chronicle reporters who wrote a book that talks about his use of steroids. The lawsuit does not address the claims -- oh so telling -- but addresses other issues which are best explained this way:

Instead, he said, he plans to use California's Unfair Competition Law, Business and Professions Code section 17200, to prevent authors Mark Fainaru-Wada and Lance Williams and their publishers from profiting from the book.

OK, you can't make any money of off Barroid or his misdeeds. Interesting twist and a little pathetic. As you know, I am not a fan of Barroid - look here and here.
