Happy Wariversary

It has not gone unnoticed by some that I had yet to post about the Iraq war today. I wanted to think about what I wanted to write, I am still so angry about this war that my words seem stuck, but this is just a sliver of how I feel.
Shock -- we went there and are still there, our young are dying
Awe -- that the crooks in charge lied to us about why, that some Americans still think this okay

Politicians Make Bad Bedfellow Choices
Obviously, the Internet is full of people talking about NY Governor Eliot Spitzer and his inability to keep his pants zipped. I read a great post over at If I Ran the Zoo along with one by Lance Mannion, too. It made me want to write a bit about the subject myself.
My first thought is that if I were his wife, I would be pissed about how much money he spent. Don't they have three daughters to cloth, feed and educate? What message is he sending to his three daughters? (I am sure that when we was getting serviced, he didn't think about them.) How do they feel having to go to school or anywhere else for that matter?
As Steve, pointed out there was no IF in Spitzer's statement, no real apology either. It should be about ideas he says. Yes, well, it should be, but it is more than that. He transported money and a hooker across state lines which is a felony. He is guilty, he should resign and pay for his crime.
Mr. Spitzer, you cannot be perceived at righteous, tilting at windmills and chasing down the flaws at everyone else and not expect to have people out to get you. You have chased after some of the most powerful men in the US, did you honestly think that they would not lie in wait for you?
Please, they were wishing and hoping and praying for you to make a mistake. You did, you made a big one. You got caught, don't be surprised, take it like a man.

Tricky Dick Cheney Goes Confederate
The Grim Veeper decided to day a long hunting trip yesterday. He went to the exclusive Clove Valley Rod and Gun Club (it is tax exempt) in upstate New York. You must be a member or the guest of a member. It is said that a membership costs thousands of dollars per year. Disgusting, but not offensive, right? Elitist, yes.
There is of course a catch. Here is the appalling part:
There is a Confederate flag hanging in the garage of the club. He claims that he did not see it, furthermore, he claims that nobody in his party saw it, either. Wow, everyone needs their eyes checked.
Another reason to add the list of why I hate this administration. They are crooks, liars and hate mongers.

Clear Channel Clearly Sucks
Rush Limbaugh needs to shut his pie hole. Seriously. More importantly, he needs to do some actual research instead of just making up facts or using his twisted views as facts. This also goes for the dumb asses who listen to the crap and hate that he spews on a daily basis.
The other day the airbag said that the Democrats and liberals use "phony soldiers" when the need strikes them to criticize the war. Yea, that is it, that is what we all do.
Well, several reps were outraged and wrote a letter to the CEO of Clear Channel. His response?
Mark Mays, CEO of Clear Channel Communications Inc., wrote a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, saying, "Over the years Mr. Limbaugh has repeatedly praised the dedication and valor of our brave men and women in uniform.
"Given Mr. Limbaugh's history of support for our soldiers, it would be unfair for me to assume his statements were intended to personally indict combat soldiers simply because they didn't share his own beliefs regarding the war in Iraq."

David Vitter Equals Hypocrite
David Vitter is a conservative US Senator who hails from Louisiana. He campaigned on conservative, family values and shit. He is of course a lying, hypocritical liar. Shocker! A Republican who can't keep it in his pants, but points the finger at others.
Vitter was a client of the DC Madam
An ex-call girl had something to say today, too

Gonzales is Audi 5000
Attorney Crook General Alberto Gonzales has announced his resignation today. He just can't get past his role in the firing of the Federal prosecutors as well as being Buhie's mouthpiece. Perhaps, this will begin to lift the tarnish that he has levied upon the Department of Justice. His last day will be September 17. It can't come fast enough as far as I am concerned.

Good News From This Morning
My phone rings.
"hello."
"Did you hear the news about Rove?"
"Did he die?" I asked sounding a little hopeful.
"No, he has resigned."
"Well, it is a start. Thanks for letting me know." I hung up with a smile.
Well, he is going to write a book, but am sure that it won't be juicy or truthful. Does this mean that Rove can testify now? He doesn't have executive privilege now. Mags has some thoughts, too.

"that when he was stopped in Kent, he asked the police officer how his sign differed from Realtors posting signs on public property saying "This way to the house for sale." He said the officer asked, 'You don't know the difference?' but never explained what it might be."

CA Evil Electorate Vote Proposed
A Republican lawyer is putting forth the Presidential Reform Act. It is a particularly stinky proposition that a man named Thomas Hiltchk wants to put on the ballot here in California. As you know, California has 55 electoral votes and we have moved up our primary has been moved to February 5 to allow us more say.
What Hiltchk is proposing is that two, yes, two electoral votes go to the popular vote winner and that the remaining 53 votes would be award to the Presidential winner of each congressional district. This means that California could decide the winner of the election and the outcome would almost guarantee a Republican president. UGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Yes, because the last one has worked out oh so well.
On the plus side, it has to qualify to get on the ballot and then it has to pass. The part that bothers me the most? All of the time, money and energy that we will have to spend to defeat it.
You should know that Hiltchk is the general counsel for the Governator and that the Governator's office doesn't know anything about this proposed proposition. Right and that denial will buy me a home here in San Francisco. Thanks to Scaramouche for pointing this out to me.

This is the best joke that I have heard so far this year. We can all thank Randy "Duke" Cunningham and Jack Abramoff for this weak attempt. The Republicans aren't saying straight out that they will oppose the measure, but some of them are not thrilled.
On the plus side, the bill passed the House by a vote of 411 - 8. It is a start, but will it get stalled or amended down? SFGate

Libby was also fined $250,000 and am sure that the dark lord will pick up the tab since Scooter took the bullet for him. Hmm, how do we find out who paid the fine?????

Thank you for signing on to doing a job that I would never do.

I am sorry that so many of our current soldiers are dying at alarming rates.
I am sorry that all of this money is being spent on educating you and others, so we don't have pointless wars.

Edwards Brings It
John Edwards gave our Shrub the smack down during an interview. It is refreshing to hear somebody besides myself and some other bloggers say it loud and proud.
"GWB is responsible for Osama bin Laden being at large." (paraphrased)
Edwards wants some of our brave kids to come home and be out totally within a year. Yes, let's bring our hard working troops home!!
The best quote from the WaPo article:
"The war on terror is a slogan designed only for politics, not a strategy to make America safe. It's a bumper sticker, not a plan," Edwards said. "It has damaged our alliances and weakened our standing in the world."
We were told that there were weapons of mass destruction. There were none. I belief that this is straight up fraud.

Texas Sucks: Reason 412
The small town of Farmers Branch, Texas passed a law stating that it is illegal to rent an apartment to illegal immigrants. The ordinance was set to start tomorrow. (Yahoo! news.)
However, a Federal judge ruled the ordinance to not be enforceable. Only the government can define illegal immigrant status. Does Gonzales know? Here is another judge to have fired.
You should also know that the five members of the city council are white. There are no districts, just elected members-at-large. Some Latino voters have filed suit and are asking for districts to be put into place.
It is nice to see that America is a land of tolerance and embracing our roots of the great melting pot.

WAR ON OLD NAVY
Ok, so Old Navy had this bogus mascot contest where you can enter your dog. Right, so I entered Liam with this picture. He is a neighborhood favorite, after all!
They held four fake casting calls where one of the judges even had the nerve to ask several questions about him, take his picture with her handheld and say that she wanted him. WHATEVER!
So, he is not selected -- I can live with that part, but then I get this email to vote for one of the six semifinalists. Ok, again not so bad. But, then I click over and the dogs that they "claim to have selected" are the same ones that ran in the ads for the contest!
The contest is/was BOGUS! Boycott Old Navy and their crappy clothes. Their will be another battle posted soon.

Dumb Dumb Comes to Cisco
I received this note from several sources. Check out the wide path our CEO (Chief Embarassment Officer) must have for his visit today at Cisco Systems down in San Jose. Employees were also encouraged to work from home to avoid the mess his visit will cause. All for Dumb Dumb. Sidenote: Cisco's CEO, John Chambers, is a noted Bay Area Republican.
Cisco Internal Message to it's San Jose-Based Employees
Cisco has the honor and privilege of hosting U.S. President George Bush on the San Jose campus on Friday afternoon, April 21, for an invitation-only panel discussion with California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, CEO John Chambers, and several other participants to discuss U.S. competitiveness, technology, and education.
Closures – New Information
The Baypointe and Cisco Way
Light Rail stations will be closed on Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Light Rail will be running its scheduled routes, but trains will not
stop at Baypointe or Cisco Way. At certain times during the day,
service may be delayed/stopped for several minutes.
Access
Invited guests will include Cisco
employees and local business and community members. Only those with a
personal invitation will be allowed entry to the event. A special live
CiscoTV broadcast will be provided for all employees to participate
virtually, from approximately 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Pacific Time.
Cisco's Work from Home Policy
The safety and security of
employees and participants are Cisco's utmost concern at this event.
The work from home policy states that is up to the discretion of you
and your manager to determine whether or not working at home is
appropriate for you and your job. Due to the expected parking lot
and road closures (see below), the public attention and crowd control
issues, and general disruption to the campus, Cisco highly recommends
that all San Jose-based employees talk with their managers and consider
working from home on April 21 .
The company appreciates your patience and cooperation in this matter, and apologizes in advance for any inconvenience this might cause. If your building's parking lot or the roads surrounding your building will be inaccessible, you will receive advance notification via e-mail.
Cisco Identification
If you plan on being on campus that
day, please carry your Cisco photo ID badge (no temporary badges will
be accepted) as well as a second form of picture identification with
you at all times. You will need to present identification to Cisco
security or local authorities to gain access to roads and parking lots.
Please respect any direction you may receive from Cisco security and
local authorities in and around the campus.
Parking, Security, Road Closures, and Safety Concerns
Security
will be extremely tight on campus this Friday and there will be several
parking lot and road closures. All road and pedestrian closures will
remain in effect except in the event of an emergency. It's expected
that large public crowds will assemble on public property on Tasman
near Cisco Way , which may inconvenience travel in and around that
area. Cisco is working with local authorities to minimize the impact of
those public crowds to employees and business.
Buildings 1-19 (Cisco Site 4) will be the most impacted from a traffic and parking perspective. Due to security concerns, the San Jose Police Department will close the following roads and sidewalks at the following times (all times are subject to change):
Vehicle and Sidewalk Traffic
9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
•
Pedestrian traffic will be limited to badged Cisco employees on Tasman
Dr. from Baypointe Parkway to Cisco Way. You must carry a Cisco badge
with a photo at all times (no temporary badges will be accepted).
• Pedestrian traffic will be limited to badged Cisco employees on Zanker Road from Baypointe Parkway to Center Road.
• Vehicular traffic will be prohibited on Tasman Dr. from Zanker Road to Cisco Way.
• The Baypointe and Cisco Way Light Rail stations will be closed. Light Rail will be running its scheduled routes, but trains will not stop there.
1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
• Vehicular traffic will be prohibited on Tasman Dr. from McCarthy Ranch Road to First Street.
• Vehicular traffic will be prohibited on Zanker Road from Highway 237 to River Oaks Parkway.
• Vehicular traffic will be prohibited on Cisco Way from River Oaks Parkway to Tasman.
• Vehicular traffic will be prohibited on River Oaks Parkway to Cisco Way.
Alternative Vehicular Routes to Access Cisco Campus from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.:
• From Highway 237 take Southbound Zanker Road and U-Turn at Tasman Dr. to enter building 1 or 2 parking lots.
• From Westbound Tasman Dr. approaching Cisco Way, you MUST turn left onto Cisco Way; parking lots available for buildings 12-19.
• Remember that these routes will not be accessible between 1-4 p.m.

Port Whine May Be Corked
It would seem that the men from Dubai have decided to give into the growing Port Whine and have called their contract quits. Do I smell a new Halliburton contract?
This comes after dissention was felt in the ranks for the Republicans. Many of them decided not to follow party lines. Why couldn’t they have down so over the Supreme Court Nominees – oh, what am I saying?!
Xenophobia and racial profiling have won again. Exhibit A:
A leading congressional critic of the ports deal, Rep. Peter King, applauded the decision but said he and others would wait to see the details. "It would have to be an American company with no links to DP World, and that would be a tremendous victory and very gratifying," said the New York Republican, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee.

GWB: New O Hater
That’s right! He did know about the levees, the deplorable lack of preparedness for the Superdome and other concerns expressed to him by various members of the Homeland Defense droolers. Even, Michael Brown can prove he told ‘em so.
The best part? It is all on tape, baby! You can see it here. Now, what does Karl Rove have to say? Talk about guilty.
My favorite part:
A top hurricane expert voiced "grave concerns" about the levees and then-Federal Emergency Management Agency chief Michael Brown told the president and Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff that he feared there weren't enough disaster teams to help evacuees at the Superdome.
"I'm concerned about ... their ability to respond to a catastrophe within a catastrophe," Brown told his bosses the afternoon before Katrina made landfall.
The official response:
Homeland Security officials have said the "fog of war" blinded them early on to the magnitude of the disaster. But the video and transcripts show federal and local officials discussed threats clearly, reviewed long-made plans and understood Katrina would wreak devastation of historic proportions. "I'm sure it will be the top 10 or 15 when all is said and done," warned Max Mayfield of the National Hurricane Center the day Katrina lashed the GulfCoast
"I don't buy the `fog of war' defense," Brown told the AP in an interview Wednesday. "It was a fog of bureaucracy."
Only one briefing? Yea, how many does it take blockheads? Not to mention the date of that briefing was August 28, 2005. Do they think that we are all that stupid?
The White House and Homeland Security Department urged the public Wednesday not to read too much into the video footage.

Port Whine Grows
Well, now. It seems that both sides of the aisle are still smoldering from last week’s US Ports contract negotiations. Is it that surprising to anyone that Americans are supsicous about a company that hails from the United Arab Emirates? The White House has decided to call the calling off, off by accepting a 45-day security review by Dubai Ports World.
The fact that our xenophobia is showing does not surprised me in the least. One Republican lawmaker is claiming that Dubai Ports World has ties to Osama binLaden and the Taliban. Really? I can’t find that evidence – show me. While Democrats are opposed to the deal, now, is because a secretive committee conducts the review. The findings are only shown to the President (Yea, Dick Cheney).
Of course, the whole thing is a comedy of errors. Dumb Dumb (further proving my nickname) had no clue about the deal in the first place. I am guessing that ShrubCo has never read, “How to Win Friends and Influence People.” An of course, I can't help myself and wonder what will Halliburton gain from this? You speak like a rat, you like a rat, then you are a dirty rat.

Letterman on Trigger Happy Cheney
"Late Show with David Letterman," CBS:
_ "Good news, ladies and gentlemen, we have finally located weapons of mass destruction: It's Dick Cheney."
_ "But here is the sad part — before the trip Donald Rumsfeld had denied the guy's request for body armor."
_ "We can't get Bin Laden, but we nailed a 78-year-old attorney."
_ "The guy who got gunned down, he is a Republican lawyer and a big Republican donor and fortunately the buck shot was deflected by wads of laundered cash. So he's fine. He took a little in the wallet."

Pistol Packin' Veeper
As you all know, the Grim Veeper shot a man this past weekend. The NRA remains quiet.
Should Dick face criminal charges? Your thoughts?
Personally, I think that a man who has a history of heart troubles and strokes should not be packing heat of any kind.
What, did he think he was Clinton hunting?

There are Pants on Fire All Over DC
There are going to be a lot of sore asses (literally and figuratively) in Washington DC. And really, it couldn't be happening to a more deserving group of people. Let's take a gander shall we?
Dumb Dumb's approval rating is now below 40. Excellent, please keep on tankin'!
Libby is finger pointing, most especially at the grim Veeper, yes, nice. Fitzie, divide and conquer.
And now on stage, the Canary aka Brownie is singing the blame game blues for the Katrina SNAFU.
Well, the old addage says that if you give anyone enough rope, they will hange themselves and in Texas fashion, they take their friends with them. See what Shakespeare's Sister and Agitprop have to say on these matters as well.

Libby, Libby, Libby on . . .
Trial, trial, trial!
Okay, this is completely biased, unjust and wrong. I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby's trial has been set to begin jury selection in January 2007. Yes, that's right, two months after the general election.
How much does anyone want to bet that the judge is a Republican? I am sure that the defense team is doing a dance of joy! (Source: CNN)

Can You Speak Directly into the Microphone?
Dumb dumb and his pals can't quite hear you! Okay, the worst part is that the brainwashing is working. Did the liberals become too complacent for the last twenty years and this is why people buy into this bullshit?

Candid Bush, NOT!
There are pictures of George Bush and Jack Ambramoff together at the White House. Happy, happy, joy, joy! Scott "I can dance" McClellan says:
Q And going back to the Abramoff investigation, do you have an update for us on any records of phone calls or emails between staff members and Mr. Abramoff, or photos of the President with him?
MR. McCLELLAN: No, as I indicated yesterday, we're not going to engage in some sort of fishing expedition. I know there are some that want to play partisan politics, and do so. This is a gentleman who is being held to account for the wrongdoing he was involved in. He is someone who, through himself and his clients, contributed to both Democrats and Republicans. And it was outrageous what he was involved in doing and he needs to be held to account, and he is being held to account by the Department of Justice.
Q Can you tell us of any phone calls, records or --
MR. McCLELLAN: I've already addressed this.
Q -- have been requested or subpoenaed by the investigation?
MR. McCLELLAN: I think I would have heard of that and I haven't heard anything like that.
Yea, like myself and 90% of the blogosphere won't be all over the Smoking gung like flies on sh#t today just waiting for the goods!

When DeLay, Bey and Abramoff are in a room together
The so-called mighty are falling by the way side. Who says that a rolling stone gathers no moss? Certainly not the Republican members of Congress.

Down-sizing DeLay
Tom "Indictment boy" DeLay seems to be down in the polls. It would seem that people in Texas are finally paying attention. One down, so many more to go.
In polling conducted Tuesday through Thursday, 22 percent of respondents said they would vote for DeLay, 30 percent chose Lampson and 11 percent favored Republican-turned-independent former congressman Steve Stockman.
