Republican Anti-Gay Hate Speech Lives

This is despicable on every level. How can such narrow minded hate speech exist? Apparently, Ellen DeGeneres tried to call Oklahoma Rep. Sally Kern today, but the phone was not answered. Go figure. Can you say recall?

Democrats Aren't Electable

It is official, we're screwed again. Hello, EU Citizenship!

McCain can beat Obama and Hillary according to the new poll that was released today. This is what I have been saying in discussions that I have been having over the last few weeks. A lot of people, misguided as they may be, really like John McCain.

McCain is statistically tied with Sen. Barack Obama, 44 percent to 42 percent, and ahead of Sen. Hillary Clinton by 6 points, 46 percent to 40 percent.  The poll's margin of error was plus-or-minus 3 percentage points.

The poll also showed McCain with a 61 percent approval rating, a number higher than both Clinton's and Obama's in past polls.

Never mind that fact that he is not pro-choice, was involved in an anti-gay amendment in Arizona and wants to be in Iraq for 100 years. Do you remember his bomb Iraq story from this summer?

Fuckabee Rising

Fuckabee claims most of the Bible Belt, shocker. This wingnut wants Roe v. Wade to be overturned and also supports a Constitutional Amendment to define marriage as between a man and a woman. Hey, doesn't the Constitution guarantee our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? Isn't marriage supposed to be part of that happiness?

He claims to have traveled the US and the World, seriously? How can he be so closed minded? Scary, very scary. If he does any better or worse becomes the vp nominee, then women and the LGBT community are screwed back to the Dark Ages.

I can't even bring myself to discuss his stance on immigration.

Got Caucus?

Unless you live in a cave, you know that the Iowa Caucus took place today. Barack Obama came in first, John Edwards picked up momentum by coming in second while Hillary came in third on the Democratic side. Dodd and Biden have now dropped out of the race. I am sorry to see them go.

On the Republican side, ultra conservative Mike Huckabee won. I was horrified to see his campaign headquarters featuring prayer circles as were some of the reporters. On the plus side, he is most likely beatable. If by some miracle he does win, women and the LGBT community are screwed.

One Iowa voter said that he voted for him because of his unabashed faith. It is his unabashed faith that makes me want to move to out of the US.

Lantos to Retire

Congressman Tom Lantos has announced that he will not seek re-election for a 15th term due to the fact that he has cancer. He has an amazing record as a humanitarian. Not only that, he survived the Holocaust as well. Lantos will be missed.

"It is only in the United States that a penniless survivor of the Holocaust and a fighter in the anti-Nazi underground could have received an education, raised a family, and had the privilege of serving the last three decades of his life as a member of Congress," Lantos said in a statement. "I will never be able to express fully my profoundly felt gratitude to this great country."

Romney's Gay Bait and Switch

See Mitt flip. See him flop.

Since 2006, Romney is anti-gay he claims. however, back in the days of 1994 that was a very different story. He wanted to be Governor, not President back then. Gay lover or hater? Me thinks thou is confused and what does that tell us?

Have none of these candidates learned that magazines and newspapers plus the Internets last forever? On the plus side, he won't win.

Obama Alienates the Gays

First, I have never been a Barack Obama for President supporter. He doesn't have enough experience and we don't know enough about him. My point has been proven. Obama is going on tour with gospel singer Donnie McClurkin. Obama has refused to cancel these dates by releasing this lame statement.

McClurkin is anti-gay in the worst way. He also claims that he was gay, was "cured" and wrote about it in his book. An example of the hate that he spews:

Donnie McClurkin, who, they say, on The 700 Club “has accused gay Americans of trying to kill our children.”

The bottom line is that Obama's appearances with this hate monger are unacceptable for a Democratic Presidential candidate now and forever. We will not forget this endorsement of hate speech. The anger is growing just see AgitpropPam and Towleroad to name a few. Did he think that the rest of us wouldn't find out?

I quit Barack Obama forever.

Dear Abby:

As a person with many LGBT friends, I just want to thank you for being pro gay marriage. I think that it makes sense. You are right when you say it is about civility.

Best wishes,

Election Fatigue

This is the way to describe me. I am not in love with any candidate at this time. I took the Candidate Match Game quiz over at USAToday and found that -- drumroll please -- my candidate match.

1. Dennis Kucinich
2. Joe Biden
3. Christopher Dodd

I may blog less about politics for a bit as I find this whole election cycle sad, annoying and irritating.

Conservative San Diego Mayor NOW Endorses Gay Marriage

Sanders said, "I just could not bring myself to tell an entire group of our community they were less important, less worthy or less deserving of the rights and responsibilities of marriage than anyone else, simply because of their sexual orientation.

"Sanders said he thought of friends and members of his staff who are gay, including his daughter Lisa."I want for them the same thing that we all want for our loved ones. For each of them to find a mate, whom they love deeply and who loves them back. Someone who they can grow old together and share life's experiences."Sanders said his decision simply came down to "doing the right thing."

Follow the link, if you have a minute and watch his heartfelt statement. Finally, some of these Republicans are starting to get it! This is a big step forward.

Craig May Fight

Well, hell. Senator Craig may fight for his Senate seat. Isn't that swell? Arlen Specter apparently called him and urged him to fight. Oh, so many jokes in my head right now.

Should he stay? Should he go? Should he come out? Do the gays want him?

Thoughts on Craig Resignation

First, let's be clear. I don't give a shit if the guy is gay or not. People's sexuality is their own thing and should not be governed in any way unless they are hurting others. With that caveat, there are a few thing about this past week's events that have me asking a few questions.

1. Why are gays being targeted for engaging in cruising and the result of that cruising in Minneapolis? Why aren't we outraged like we would be if this were about racial profiling? Supposedly, the airport restroom is being investigated due to complaints about the gay sex. What if it were straight sex?

2. I can't help, but wonder who is complaining and what is their motivation? My guess is that some of these men (since it is a men's restroom) are whining because they don't understand the casual need or is some deep down frustration and jealousy that they themselves were not cruised?

3. The cops think that Craig lied about not cruising. Let's just agree to disagree for a moment and he had come out of the closet (wouldn't that be more delicious?). Doesn't the LGBT community deserve to be represented, too? Are there no gays in Idaho or are they deep in the closet? Is Idaho so conservative that they would reject a gay senator who has voted on their behalf and upholding their beliefs? Why aren't we more offended and upset that we have allowed this gay-bashing and allowed for this man to be swept back in the closet? We should be mad as hell! Why can't we stand up for our fellow Americans no matter what their sexual orientation?

Me first, NO! Me First!

South Carolina wants to have one of the first primary of the year, but New Hampshire and Iowa won't have it. The GOPers of South Carolina want to protect their battleground status.

This is getting ridiculous. We are fighting to fight over who has a larger impact on an election that doesn't mean squat. Women and the LGBT communities have the most at stake.

I am already having election fatigue. How about you?

No Option, Option

It is a great day when you hear that the leading Republican Presidential candidate is none of the above. I love it. Rudy, Brownback, Huckabee, and Mitt the Mormon can't muster enough support, not even from their Christian Coalition freaks. Although, Fred "Law & Order" Thompson polls well with his Southern Swagger without even officially announcing that he is in the race.

A hefty 23% cannot or will not say which candidate they would back, a jump from the 14% who took a pass in June.

While their Democratic counterparts seem to be faring much better. Hillary seems to be moving ahead. Is it her judicious use of Bill? Does Obama have foreign policy experience? Can Edwards raise enough money to get his message out?

On the Democratic side, 13% declined to back a candidate, and of those who picked a candidate, some may be willing to change their minds.

Elizabeth Edwards will be in San Francisco this coming weekend to show her pride. Her gay pride. As part of the festivities for San Francisco's Gay pride weekend, Elizabeth will be addressing the members of the Alice B .Toklas LGBT Democratic Club. This is a HUGE step forward for gays being taken seriously in the political arena. Excellent!

We have a lot of candidates passing through California because we are the gigantic Democratic Party ATM machine. But, some of them are looking for votes because our primary is February 5.

Here is the link to all of the SF pride events going on this weekend.

McCain Takes a Dip

The people of Iowa are closer to regaining their senses. John McCain has only 6% support among likely voters. The worst part of this news is that Mitt "holy undergarments" Romney is leading the GOP freaks.

The poll also shows Hillary leading the Democratic pack with Edwards right behind her.

Rudy Gets it Wrong Again

Well, Rudy and his people can't spell nor do they get permission to use people's names. Hmm. This is a pretty interesting tidbit coming from New Hampshire. Rudy's people added 125 people to a list of supporters without their permission.

Okay, I can understand in a hectic campaign pace that you might make around 5 errors or so. But 125? I don't think so. Who is running this campaign? If Rudy or one of his compatriots wins gays and women are screwed. Will this be as big of a story as Edwards' hair?

It should be bigger. This is shameful lying and cheating.

Another State Off the List

On occasion, I like to ponder about where I would go, if I were to move from San Francisco. The list gets shorter and shorter all of the time.

However, I now know that I will NOT be moving to South Carolina. Back in November 4 out of 5 voters, voted to ban gay marriage. That law was ratified by their Legislature today. Can you feel the love? The tolerance?

I Will NOT Jump for Mountjoy

Well, former California State Senator Dick Mountjoy is the Right-winger that was recruited to run against DiFi. She is leading with about 28 - 34 points depending on which poll you read. Excellent.

Dick, feeling the heat of losing, asked his followers, er, supporters to pray for him and his campaign. Enough said.

Poor Dick, guess he'll have to get a real job as an over-priced lobbyist in Sacramento.

Turnout is Key

Well, it had been awhile since I have written about politics, but I have some two cents to share.

Yes, we have a REAL chance to get back the House and Senate. But, we aren't there, yet. Let's not spend the next two days prediciting victory.

Let's get out there and make it HAPPEN. How are we going to do that? by VOTING ON TUESDAY and making sure that all of our felllow liberals and moderates do the same.

Please VOTE on TUESDAY and take five friends with you. Otherwise, these articles won't matter.

Women, Katrina victims and LGBT community stands to lose the most.

Breeders Beware

If you're a breeder, than you might want to think twice about moving to Provincetown any time soon. The tiny town has become a mecca for GLBT residents. This shouldn't matter to anyone.

Well, except for one tiny thing.

The State of Massachussets allows for gay marriage and apparently 5000 residents of the state have signed a petition to outlaw it. 43 of those who signed this stinky piece of crap are from Provincetown. Thus creating the rub. Their names and addresses were published on the Web.

Several of the people who signed the petition are reporting harassment and reverse discrimination.

What's Going On?

Mother, mother
There's too many of you crying
Brother, brother, brother
There's far too many of you dying
You know we've got to find a way
To bring some lovin' here today - Ya

Father, father
We don't need to escalate
You see, war is not the answer

For only love can conquer hate
You know we've got to find a way
To bring some lovin' here today

Picket lines and picket signs
Don't punish me with brutality
Talk to me, so you can see
Oh, what's going on
What's going on
Ya, what's going on
Ah, what's going on

In the mean time
Right on, baby
Right on
Right on

Father, father, everybody thinks we're wrong
Oh, but who are they to judge us
Simply because our hair is long
Oh, you know we've got to find a way
To bring some understanding here today
Oh

Picket lines and picket signs
Don't punish me with brutality

Talk to me
So you can see
What's going on
Ya, what's going on
Tell me what's going on
I'll tell you what's going on - Uh
Right on baby
Right on baby

New York State of Mind

It saddens me to note that the New York State Court of Appeals has ruled against gay marriage. Why can't a person who loves another be allowed to marry that person? Seriously! Why are we denying people their civil rights?

Allowing gay marriage makes common sense and fiscal sense, too.

Ugh, I can't rant about this well enough please see Pam's entry.

Gropenator Gets Gay Raspberry Award

Ahnold has has earned the ire of the San Francisco Gay Community --- big surprise! He is the recipient of the pink brick award that will be given at this Sunday's SF Gay Pride Parade.

Why the award? He vetoed Assemblyman Mark Leno's bill that would make gay marriage legal in California. Yes, kids it should be legal every where.

San Francisco is not the only place where the Govenator is getting razzed. He has had some very harsh criticism in other parts of California as well.

Another Reason to Hate Macy*s

Well, folks. The right-winged freaks are doing it again. They have demanded that Macy's take down a Gay themed window display that is up for Gay Rights in Boston. What did Macy's do? They caved.

I know that place has gone down hill since Federated took over, but PLEASE! This is too far. Please see the picture below. Can anyone tell me exactly how this is offensive?

Macys1This is so wrong. Whatever happened to love thy neighbor? Damn, it is not as though they are showing porn.

Ok, on the plus side, the US Senate voted down the gay marriage ban. Seriously, people should marry who they want to marry and have all of the same rights. This is about equal rights. Plain and simple.

War? What War? Pay No Attention!

Yes, folks it must be close to the time for the mid-term elections because Ol' Georgie Boy has decided to stir up a real donnybrook. He has decided that since he doesn't have a leg to stand on over there in high and mighty land that he must take some action.

Dumb Dumb has decided to pander to the right wing freaks by dusting off the old gay marriage debate. How sad. Or is it more sad that these people continue to let themselves be used? Is this his only rallying cry that is left?

On the plus side, it would seem that the repubibrats don't have the votes. Why does it matter? People should marry whomever they want to marry. Churches aren't being asked to approve it.

Ireland Closer to Gay Partnerships

Irish President Bertie Ahern unveiled the new Gay and Lesbian Equality Network today. He said that Ireland will deliver a domestic partnership law. Yes, Ireland! A very Catholic country will allow for domestic partnerships before the US.

Ugh, this is great for them, but embarrassing that the US is so far behind. It is important to note that Ahern did not give a time line for when he will deliver the legislation. My guess is that it will be after elections. Can President Ahern use his influence to help progress for gay marriage in the US?

Holy Liberal Media!

The liberal media strikes again. ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX have all declined to run an ad for the United Church of Christ. They have refused because they claim not to run advocacy ads -- huh? What would you call the ads about pollution?

The ads feature Gay couples (oh, no!), ethnic minorites (scary) and unwed mothers being cast aside by an unspecified Church. How shocking and untrue true!

"They are saying, 'You can entertain on 'Will & Grace' and 'Queer Eye for the Straight Guy,' but when it comes to showing you as whole people with the church, that is going to far," Buford said. Says the spokesman for the Church and he may be right.

What's the moral of the story? 1. God loves all people and 2. the liberal media is only as liberal as those who sensor what gets on television.

Reason #487 I am Proud to be an Amurrican

I was even more proud after I read this story about a small town in West Virginia.

It seems that Claude Green died of a fatal heart attack because he is gay. Yes, that is correct. This occurred because a small town sheriff stopped an emergency worker from administering CPR to the man because he (sheriff moron) assumed that Green was HIV-positive.

Yea, that’s it. All gay people have AIDS. What is wrong with these people? This is 2006. This makes me sick. I am so deeply saddened that homophobia is so prevalent in our culture.

On the plus side, the ACLU has filed suit on behalf of the dead man’s mother and sister. Damn, those dues are worth every penny!

Teaching Tolerance

Since I am a lifelong Bay Area resident, I make the mistake of assuming that everyone is just as liberal, tolerant and embracing as I am. Well, today I received another reminder that this is not the case and my heartbreaks just a little bit more.

Safespace Over in the East Bay in San Leandro, the school district saw fit to teach tolerance and make their schools - gulp - safe for all students. This was done by passing out the poster that is posted here to all teachers at a yearly seminar on LGBT issues because, sadly, gay students are harassed and worse at schools. The poster was designed by one of the LGBT clubs at one the campuses.

However, about five teachers have refused to hang the posters in their classrooms because of their religious beliefs. None of these teachers were available at the time of the Chronicle's article for comment. Why not be proud of your stance? You lily liver-ed bigots!

My thoughts:

1. Whatever happened to separation of Church and State? Clearly, these peeps are getting paid with government monies.

2. These are not private institutions, so get over it. You are not being asked to discuss it, although, you should.

3. You are perpetuating myths and passing along the bias of those who are not tolerant.

4. GET OVER IT! You should be teaching and embracing ALL STUDENTS. If you are unwilling to do this, then find another job. Every child should feel welcome at their school, no matter what.
