Another Not So Innocent Obama Backer
Gordon Fischer, a former chair of the Iowa Democratic Party and part of Obama's Iowa support team, also compared Bill Clinton unfavorably to Joe McCarthy.
McCarthy was a senator who was known for leveling accusations that people were Communists or spying for the Russians in the 1950s.
"When Joe McCarthy questioned others' patriotism, McCarthy (1) actually believed, at least aparently (sic), the questions were genuine, and (2) he did so in order to build up, not tear down, his own party, the GOP," Fischer, wrote on his blog.
"Bill Clinton cannot possibly seriously believe Obama is not a patriot, and cannot possibly be said to be helping -- instead he is hurting -- his own party. B. Clinton should never be forgiven. Period. This is a stain on his legacy, much worse, much deeper, than the one on Monica's blue dress." CNN
Wow, this is really low. I didn't think that Bill Clinton was running for office. Would Bill's comments be so scrutinized if he had not been the President?

Happy Wariversary

It has not gone unnoticed by some that I had yet to post about the Iraq war today. I wanted to think about what I wanted to write, I am still so angry about this war that my words seem stuck, but this is just a sliver of how I feel.
Shock -- we went there and are still there, our young are dying
Awe -- that the crooks in charge lied to us about why, that some Americans still think this okay

Politicians Make Bad Bedfellow Choices
Obviously, the Internet is full of people talking about NY Governor Eliot Spitzer and his inability to keep his pants zipped. I read a great post over at If I Ran the Zoo along with one by Lance Mannion, too. It made me want to write a bit about the subject myself.
My first thought is that if I were his wife, I would be pissed about how much money he spent. Don't they have three daughters to cloth, feed and educate? What message is he sending to his three daughters? (I am sure that when we was getting serviced, he didn't think about them.) How do they feel having to go to school or anywhere else for that matter?
As Steve, pointed out there was no IF in Spitzer's statement, no real apology either. It should be about ideas he says. Yes, well, it should be, but it is more than that. He transported money and a hooker across state lines which is a felony. He is guilty, he should resign and pay for his crime.
Mr. Spitzer, you cannot be perceived at righteous, tilting at windmills and chasing down the flaws at everyone else and not expect to have people out to get you. You have chased after some of the most powerful men in the US, did you honestly think that they would not lie in wait for you?
Please, they were wishing and hoping and praying for you to make a mistake. You did, you made a big one. You got caught, don't be surprised, take it like a man.

A Thought on HRC
A few people have emailed me to say that they are surprised that I am supporting Hillary Clinton for President because she represents the establishment.
Well, here is just one reason and response (others are forthcoming):
The people with the penises have been in charge for a really long time now and I just look at where we are in the World. America is not the shining city on the hill as it once was considered. So, I think that we need try my gender for a change.
Ask yourself, how would 911 been handled? Would we even be in Iraq? How would Katrina been handled?

Democrats Aren't Electable
It is official, we're screwed again. Hello, EU Citizenship!
McCain can beat Obama and Hillary according to the new poll that was released today. This is what I have been saying in discussions that I have been having over the last few weeks. A lot of people, misguided as they may be, really like John McCain.
McCain is statistically tied with Sen. Barack Obama, 44 percent to 42 percent, and ahead of Sen. Hillary Clinton by 6 points, 46 percent to 40 percent. The poll's margin of error was plus-or-minus 3 percentage points.
The poll also showed McCain with a 61 percent approval rating, a number higher than both Clinton's and Obama's in past polls.
Never mind that fact that he is not pro-choice, was involved in an anti-gay amendment in Arizona and wants to be in Iraq for 100 years. Do you remember his bomb Iraq story from this summer?

Fuckabee claims most of the Bible Belt, shocker. This wingnut wants Roe v. Wade to be overturned and also supports a Constitutional Amendment to define marriage as between a man and a woman. Hey, doesn't the Constitution guarantee our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? Isn't marriage supposed to be part of that happiness?
He claims to have traveled the US and the World, seriously? How can he be so closed minded? Scary, very scary. If he does any better or worse becomes the vp nominee, then women and the LGBT community are screwed back to the Dark Ages.

Obama is a great speaker, there is no debating it. He knows how to work the angles, all of the angles in fact. Have you ever noticed that during his televised speeches, the cameras don't pan him from far back?

Who's on Obama's Campaign?
We keep hearing a lot about change. Both Hillary and Obama personify change.
If you ask Obama, he will tell you that Hillary equals more of the same and she can't bring change, but he can bring change. He wants people to see her as extension of Bill. If he wants to differentiate himself, then why does he have so many former Clinton staffers on his campaign?
Some examples:
1. Former National Security Adviser Tony Lake
2. Former Assistant Secretary of State Susan Rice
3. Former Navy Secretary Richard Danzig
These are just to name a few.
How does this personify change? On the plus side, we know Obama likes to recycle.

Is This Beaumont?
Beaumont, you ask? It is the fictional town of no fun in the movie, Footloose!
A St. Louis-area town is considering a bill that would ban swearing in bars, along with table-dancing, drinking contests and profane music.
City officials contend the bill is needed to keep rowdy crowds under control because the historic downtown area gets a little too lively on some nights.
City Councilman Richard Veit said he was prompted to propose the bill after complaints about bad bar behavior. He says it will give police some rules to enforce when things get too rowdy.
But some bar owners worry the bill is too vague and restrictive, saying it may be a violation of their civil rights.
Marc Rousseau, who owns bar R.T. Weilers, said he thinks the bill needs revision.
"We're dealing with adults here once again and I don't think it's the city's job or the government's job to determine what we can and cannot play in our restaurant," Rousseau said.
The proposal would ban indecent, profane or obscene language, songs, entertainment and literature at bars.
A meeting to discuss the proposal is set for Jan. 14.
It might be a violation of civil rights? You need to ask that question? What has the Patriot Act done to us? Is this a plot by Fuckabee and his prayer circles?

Got Caucus?
Unless you live in a cave, you know that the Iowa Caucus took place today. Barack Obama came in first, John Edwards picked up momentum by coming in second while Hillary came in third on the Democratic side. Dodd and Biden have now dropped out of the race. I am sorry to see them go.
On the Republican side, ultra conservative Mike Huckabee won. I was horrified to see his campaign headquarters featuring prayer circles as were some of the reporters. On the plus side, he is most likely beatable. If by some miracle he does win, women and the LGBT community are screwed.
One Iowa voter said that he voted for him because of his unabashed faith. It is his unabashed faith that makes me want to move to out of the US.

Congressman Tom Lantos has announced that he will not seek re-election for a 15th term due to the fact that he has cancer. He has an amazing record as a humanitarian. Not only that, he survived the Holocaust as well. Lantos will be missed.
"It is only in the United States that a penniless survivor of the Holocaust and a fighter in the anti-Nazi underground could have received an education, raised a family, and had the privilege of serving the last three decades of his life as a member of Congress," Lantos said in a statement. "I will never be able to express fully my profoundly felt gratitude to this great country."

More Wingnuts to Watch
I have stumbled upon a repugnant Web site named Mothers Against Illegal Aliens. It is quite disgusting and hateful. The woman who runs the group, Michelle Dallacroce, is the only name listed on the Web site.
She is not a native of Arizona as she has claimed.
Dallacroce spewed this gem of hate on Neil Cavuto's show on May 18, 2006:
Michelle asserted that there is no reason "that we have to have" immigrant women and children in the United States, since there are no jobs for "the women and the children [to] do ... other than their children's job is to dumb down the American children and overpopulate our schools."
She touts that no good deed goes unpunished, so what will be her punishment?

Republicans: Worse than the Stomach Flu?
(Today's guest author is SourKraut. Catherine is in Firenze this week discovering that the Renaissance was an early form of a government endowment)
Call me interested, or call me a fool, but I wasted an hour or so last night watching the Republican debates.
Overall, I found the candidates to be scary. Really. The whole Roe v. Wade discussion just made my stomach turn, especially when they were talking about putting members on the SCOTUS who would overturn it.

You like me? You really like me!
(Today's guest author is SourKraut. Catherine is examining whether pasta is really al dente in Firenze this week)
With less than 45 days till the first Presidential caucus, endorsement season is in full swing. Babs (Streisand) sings for Hillary (the gay and Showtune-loving vote), Oprah is shouting out for Obama (the suburban mom and mini van driving voter) and "West Virginians for Life Endorsement" have a fetish for Fred (the world is still flat voter)
Question is, does anybody care? Do endorsements in this day of 500 channels, instant Internet access to information, YouTube, political social networking and other forms of by-the-minute political coverage make any difference? Do people really still base their vote on the endorsement of a person, company, or union? Why do we care what other people think?

Score Update: Cheney 4, Devil 0
(Today's guest author is SourKraut. Catherine is testing various espressos in Firenze this week)
Don't you have to have a heart to have heart problems? It's seems old Dick is having more tests done this week at George Washington University Hospital after complaining of a persistent cough. Here's my favorite factoid:
"Mr Cheney, 66, has had four heart attacks, quadruple bypass surgery and operations to clear blocked arteries. He was fitted with a pacemaker in 2001."
While the devil has been slow to re-coup the soul Dick sold him back in the Ford administration, it's looking like the Devil's offensive line is making another play. Or is this all part of a grandiose plan to have Dick "retire" for "health reasons" and have Dumb-Dumb pardon him before leaving office? [SK]

Hillary Hopes on Her, Her and Her
Chick Channel aka Lifetime Network sponsored a poll and finds that Hillary is drawing more women to be interested in the Presidential election. Now, that is a startling revelation. We finally have some real relevance in the discussion whether we support her or not.
Survey of more than 1,000 women holds some of these results:
- - 2/3 said they would vote for Clinton, the Democratic front-runner, and the remaining third would vote against her.
- - 7% said they would not vote for any female presidential candidate.
- - Of those polled, 23% said they were paying more attention to the election in November 2008, because a woman is among the major candidates.
- - 77% were not yet committed to any candidate, but 82% said they were definitely or probably voting in the election.
- - According to 39% of the women, this election is more important than previous ones, the poll showed.
This is interesting since Hillary has finally remembered that she is a woman and should try to help a sister out. She unveiled a plan on Monday in New Hampshire that calls for states to have a paid family leave plan and would free up monies to help achieve these goals. It is refreshing to see her use her motherhood as it immediately gives her something in common with thousands of others and crosses party lines.
Hillary is not my candidate of choice, but not for the zany reasons that are mentioned here by Tom.

Montezuma, Ohio that is. Daniel Huffman is running for Mayor against his sister, Charlotte Garman, who is the incumbent. If their parents are alive and residents of this town, will they vote? This should make for an interesting holiday season, eh?
From AP:
"I really don't believe she's tickled about it," said Huffman, 45.
The village that sits along Grand Lake St. Marys has just 138 registered voters so it's not unusual for the candidates to be familiar with each other. Garman, 49, said she was surprised but not upset that her younger brother entered the race.
"He has every right to run," she said. "The same as I do."

Tricky Dick Cheney Goes Confederate
The Grim Veeper decided to day a long hunting trip yesterday. He went to the exclusive Clove Valley Rod and Gun Club (it is tax exempt) in upstate New York. You must be a member or the guest of a member. It is said that a membership costs thousands of dollars per year. Disgusting, but not offensive, right? Elitist, yes.
There is of course a catch. Here is the appalling part:
There is a Confederate flag hanging in the garage of the club. He claims that he did not see it, furthermore, he claims that nobody in his party saw it, either. Wow, everyone needs their eyes checked.

Bush Sees White People
Here is a photo of W with -- wait for it, wait for it -- WHITE PEOPLE. Do you see any ethnic people in the photo or any of the others? Hmm, no ya don't. Dumb Dumb met up with the Govenator to tour San Diego -- white, republican land. Before he left the White House made some lame statements about how you can compare this to Katrina and took a dig at the elected officials of Louisiana. He neglected to mention Heckuva Job Brownie. Nor did he mention his own less than stellar actions.
The Prince of Compassion (with my embellishments):
Standing with his arm draped around the shoulders of Kendra Jeffcoat, whose house had burned to the ground, Bush said, "We know how tough it is for you (I have no clue b/c I am a very rich man)," as Jeffcoat's eyes filled with tears. "The American people care for (white) people like you who are suffering."

SoCal is On Fire
It is estimated that almost 1 million people will be relocated due to the fires in Southern California. The Santa Ana winds have struck again. Dumb dumb or his advisers may have learned from the Katrina debacle and the deplorable way that they treated African Americans. I saw stole this graph from NYT:
Of course, it is easier for him to want to help white people. After all, San Diego county is predominantly Republican. Is that why Bush is coming to SoCal? Is he trying to remove the stench of the rotting bodies from the 9th Ward off? Good luck, you'll need it. What kind of messages does this send? He'll come for white people? Kanye is still correct.

Obama Alienates the Gays
First, I have never been a Barack Obama for President supporter. He doesn't have enough experience and we don't know enough about him. My point has been proven. Obama is going on tour with gospel singer Donnie McClurkin. Obama has refused to cancel these dates by releasing this lame statement.
McClurkin is anti-gay in the worst way. He also claims that he was gay, was "cured" and wrote about it in his book. An example of the hate that he spews:
Donnie McClurkin, who, they say, on The 700 Club “has accused gay Americans of trying to kill our children.”
The bottom line is that Obama's appearances with this hate monger are unacceptable for a Democratic Presidential candidate now and forever. We will not forget this endorsement of hate speech. The anger is growing just see Agitprop, Pam and Towleroad to name a few. Did he think that the rest of us wouldn't find out?
I quit Barack Obama forever.

Americans Practice Looksism
First impressions. They seem to rule our world. It follows suit, then that Americans apply this method to selecting a political candidate. FanFUCKINGtastic.
Although rendering a snap judgment on a candidate's competence with just a quick glance may seem a superficial way to judge people, a Princeton University study finds that such reasoning accurately predicted election outcomes in about 70% of gubernatorial and U.S. Senate races last year. USAToday
Of all of the shortcuts that we take, this seems just so wrong. We need to look at the candidates qualifications, i.e. their voting record, stance on the issues and prior experience. Damn, America is a sinking ship.

Clear Channel Clearly Sucks
Rush Limbaugh needs to shut his pie hole. Seriously. More importantly, he needs to do some actual research instead of just making up facts or using his twisted views as facts. This also goes for the dumb asses who listen to the crap and hate that he spews on a daily basis.
The other day the airbag said that the Democrats and liberals use "phony soldiers" when the need strikes them to criticize the war. Yea, that is it, that is what we all do.
Well, several reps were outraged and wrote a letter to the CEO of Clear Channel. His response?
Mark Mays, CEO of Clear Channel Communications Inc., wrote a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, saying, "Over the years Mr. Limbaugh has repeatedly praised the dedication and valor of our brave men and women in uniform.
"Given Mr. Limbaugh's history of support for our soldiers, it would be unfair for me to assume his statements were intended to personally indict combat soldiers simply because they didn't share his own beliefs regarding the war in Iraq."

Conservative San Diego Mayor NOW Endorses Gay Marriage
Sanders said, "I just could not bring myself to tell an entire group of
our community they were less important, less worthy or less deserving
of the rights and responsibilities of marriage than anyone else, simply
because of their sexual orientation.
"Sanders said he thought of friends and members of his staff who are gay, including his daughter Lisa."I
want for them the same thing that we all want for our loved ones. For
each of them to find a mate, whom they love deeply and who loves them
back. Someone who they can grow old together and share life's
experiences."Sanders said his decision simply came down to "doing the right thing."
Follow the link, if you have a minute and watch his heartfelt statement. Finally, some of these Republicans are starting to get it! This is a big step forward.

Fun With Math
Over at the White House and the Pentagon, they are very proud of their progress and touting the numbers to slap themselves on the back. Although, they should just slap themselves. Let's have some fun with math, shall we?
What does that equal?
1/6 or 17%
Hmm, I think that I will tell my boss and my co-workers that I am only going to to do 1/6th of my job duties effective today. I will also tell them that I will only pay attention to 17% of what is said in meetings and only be billing 17% of my time at work instead of the 85% that I am actually expected to bill.
Do you think that will be a problem?
Yes, then why aren't we more outraged by the third rate job that is being put forth in front of us?

David Vitter Equals Hypocrite
David Vitter is a conservative US Senator who hails from Louisiana. He campaigned on conservative, family values and shit. He is of course a lying, hypocritical liar. Shocker! A Republican who can't keep it in his pants, but points the finger at others.
Vitter was a client of the DC Madam
An ex-call girl had something to say today, too
Luckily, blogenfreude has chronicled the entire disaster. Moral majority, my ass. Don't these people work?

Moment of Silence
I interrupt this blog, to do something more important than point a finger and yell.
My pause is to remember and honor the two friends who were killed in the WTC.
You may both be gone, but you are not forgotten.

Craig May Fight
Well, hell. Senator Craig may fight for his Senate seat. Isn't that swell? Arlen Specter apparently called him and urged him to fight. Oh, so many jokes in my head right now.
Should he stay? Should he go? Should he come out? Do the gays want him?

Thoughts on Craig Resignation
First, let's be clear. I don't give a shit if the guy is gay or not. People's sexuality is their own thing and should not be governed in any way unless they are hurting others. With that caveat, there are a few thing about this past week's events that have me asking a few questions.
1. Why are gays being targeted for engaging in cruising and the result of that cruising in Minneapolis? Why aren't we outraged like we would be if this were about racial profiling? Supposedly, the airport restroom is being investigated due to complaints about the gay sex. What if it were straight sex?
2. I can't help, but wonder who is complaining and what is their motivation? My guess is that some of these men (since it is a men's restroom) are whining because they don't understand the casual need or is some deep down frustration and jealousy that they themselves were not cruised?
3. The cops think that Craig lied about not cruising. Let's just agree to disagree for a moment and he had come out of the closet (wouldn't that be more delicious?). Doesn't the LGBT community deserve to be represented, too? Are there no gays in Idaho or are they deep in the closet? Is Idaho so conservative that they would reject a gay senator who has voted on their behalf and upholding their beliefs? Why aren't we more offended and upset that we have allowed this gay-bashing and allowed for this man to be swept back in the closet? We should be mad as hell! Why can't we stand up for our fellow Americans no matter what their sexual orientation?
