Pondering

I have to confess that I am seriously considering quitting blogging. Any thoughts from the Peanut Gallery?

An Interview with a Blogger

I consider myself a foodie because I love to eat. Of course, I love to eat well and healthfully as possible. Who doesn't love a triple cream? Or some organic strawberries? One of my favorite blogs is Chocolate & Zucchini which is written by Clotilde Dusoulier. I have her cookbook and so should you. I met her when she did a book signing in San Francisco. There is a new interview with her on news.com, so check it out. Here is a taste:

And you're going to continue blogging?
Dusoulier: Yeah, yeah. That's not going anywhere. I mean it's been for years now and I can't really imagine my life without having the blog. It's definitely become a big part of how I live and what I do. It's quite an important part of my life.

What are your habits? Do you write in the morning? Do you write in the evening?
Dusoulier: I write mostly in the morning for the blog, but the process for my blogging is quite spread out because there are different phases: when I cook, when I take pictures and when I correct the pictures, when I write the recipe and when I write the story. Then everything comes together. So it usually happens over a few days.

Random Flickr Blogging

What Harry Potter does when he goes back to his muggle ways.

Random Flickr blogging is explained by the one and only Tom Hilton.

iCaved

Yes, I must confess that I have caved and bought an iPhone. It is sweet! I love it. It is fun to use and it is nice not to have to carry my nano and a phone around with me all of the time. It has been fun putting pictures to my contacts.

Here are the three things that bug me the most:

1. AT&T (evil, but they have an exclusive five year deal and I can't hold out that long.)
2. I can't use any of my music as a ring tone
3. The battery life could be longer.

Yahoo F*cks with Flickr

This made my blood boil this morning for oh so many reasons! Is anyone else mad?

2. On March 15th, 2007 we'll be discontinuing the old email-based Flickr sign in system. From that point on, everyone will have to use a Yahoo! ID to sign in to Flickr.

We're making this change now to simplify the sign in process in advance of several large projects launching this year, but some Flickr features and tools already require Yahoo! IDs for sign in -- like the mobile site at m.flickr.com or the new Yahoo! Go program for mobiles, available at http://go.yahoo.com.

If you still sign in using the email-based Flickr system (here), you can make the switch at any time in the next few months, from today till the 15th. (After that day, you'll be required to merge before you continue using your account.) To switch, start at this page: http://flickr.com/account/associate/

Complete details and answers to most common questions are available here: http://flickr.com/help/signin/

If you have questions or comments about signing in with a Yahoo! ID, speak up!

Looks Count

Yes, this blog has a new look. Why?

Well, it seems that the legal types over at Potterybarn think that my little ol' blog was denigrating their brand. Wow, I feel so honored. They had some fancy lawyer send me a letter.

Don't worry , of course, I will scan for all to see tonight.

Thanks for asking and your kind notes. What do you think of the new look?

Nerds: Where are They Now?

Nerds This 1978 file photo made available by Microsoft Corp. shows the 11 people who started Microsoft. The photo was taken in Albuquerque, N.M., just prior to moving the company to the Seattle area. Shown top row, from left, are: Steve Wood, Bob Wallace and Jim Lane; second row, Bob O'Rear, Bob Greenberg, March McDonald and Gordon Letwin; and front row, Bill Gates, Andrea Lewis, Marla Wood and Paul Allen. Gates announced Thursday, June 15, 2006, that he will transition from day-to-day responsibilities at the company to concentrate on the charitable work of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Gates will continue as the company's chairman after transferring his duties over a two-year period. (AP Photo/Microsoft Corp., Ho, file)

I am just saying! Maybe I should have been more interested in math? Oh, now? They are counting their money.

Advocating the Avatar

I must confess, I am a Yahoo! Messenger fiend. I love it and am 500% loyal to it. No discussions about it. One of my favorite elements is the avatar. I love changing her outfits and backgrounds.

With that said, I am hoping that Yahoo! (miss the yodel) will consider using more of the avatar in many more place. Personally, I hope that they use it on their new shoposphere that is still in beta.

The other place is in Yahoo! Sports, most especially for the march Madness tournament. I wish that I could have a tourney background and college sweaters for my teams. Let's hope that a yahooligan reads this and makes it happen.

BlackBerry Will Not Go Dark

Apparently, Federal Judge James Spencer did not order an injunction to RIM (Research in Motion)'s BlackBerry network. He may issue damages soon. He could order an injunction, but it does not look likely which is good for all of you CrackBerry addicts out there.

For more background on the story, check out this quick segment on KTVU that aired last night -- if the link doesn't work -- it is down on the right side and is Pam Cook reporting.

Should I give in now and get a CrackBerry? Does anyone think that maybe just maybe the Fedral Judge won't issue an injunction because the FBI and other government agencies use them? Hmm.

Micorsoft Severs Relationship with Rightwinger

According the TechWeb, Microsoft Corp. has seen fit to sever its relationship with Ralph Reed. Reed was the head of the Christian coalition from 1989 to 1997. He also was a regional chairman for the Bush re-elction campaign.

If that doesn't frighten you enough, he is running to be the lieutant governor of Georgia. Well, let's find a less scary candidate quick! On the plus side, Microsoft has begun to see the light.

Adobe to Buy Macromedia

A wise friend, from mynoodle.com, predicted this about a month ago. The sale price seems low which makes one wonder about what was going on over there at macrodmedia.

Well, Adobe wanted a Flash program, so after a failed attempt ot two they just bought it. Problem solved. It will be interesting to see if the DOJ approvesd the sale.

I would love to be a fly on the wall at today's all employee meeting at Macromedia. SFGate has the story.

Pez: Not Just for Candy Any More

Yoda_187x170

Pez has announced that it will also dispense MP3s now, too. Sweet!

That's right, the candy market's best-known handheld device, the iconic Pez dispenser, is about to go digital. Under a recently granted licensing agreement with Pez Candy, gadget design company Lincoln West Studios will soon begin selling MP3 players modeled after the big-headed plastic treat sleeves.

Darn, I didn't get one in my Easter basket! The full story is on CNET.

Cellular Company Divulges True Coverage

In a surprising move, T-Mobile has posted on their website a Personal Coverage Check. Wow, I wish my carrier were that honest and upfront. PC Magazine has a great article about it.

Only time will tell if this is a good call.
